As people start to travel, we intend to keep everyone updated and inspired about Malawi so that tourism can aid in the country’s recovery fully as visitors return.
Malawi’s borders have now reopened.
Visitors must present a negative PCR no older than 72 hours.

| In a move much anticipated and welcomed by the tourism industry and prospective travellers, it was announced at the end of August that Malawi’s borders have reopened to international travellers. Travel restrictions and quarantine requirements have been lifted.
Malawi closed its borders to all but Malawi residents and citizens in June in an effort to limit the impact of a third wave of COVID-19. The tourist industry in the Warm Heart of Africa has been extremely hard hit by the COVID pandemic and resulting international travel restrictions, with a damaging knock-on effect to the important community and conservation projects supported by tourism. But Malawi can now look forward to welcoming international visitors again as tourism helps in the country’s recovery. Read More

| African Wild Dogs return to Malawi | |
| On 27 July 2021, 14 African Wild Dogs (Lycaon pictus) were translocated successfully from South Africa and Mozambique to Liwonde National Park and Majete Wildlife Reserve, in an historic project to reintroduce this endangered and iconic species to Malawi. While helping to repopulate both parks, the reintroduction represents a major international effort to conserve African Wild Dogs, with only 6,600 individuals, or just 700 breeding pairs estimated to be left on the continent. Luwawa Environmental Trust is based in Northern Malawi and manages an area of mixed Forest and wetlands around Luwawa Dam (137HA). | World’s first 3D printed school opens in Malawi | |
| Holcim announces the world’s first school built with 3D printing (3DP), developed with CDC Group, the UK’s development finance institution. The school was built in Malawi’s Salima district (pop. 38,000), and its walls were printed in just 18 hours, compared to several days with conventional building materials. Read More
