As Malawi starts to re-open for tourism and people start to make plans to travel, we intend to keep everyone updated and inspired about Malawi so that tourism can aid in the country’s recovery fully as visitors return.
After a recent surge of new COVID cases in neighbouring countries, as a precautionary measure, in mid-June 2021 Malawi’s borders were temporarily closed to all but Malawi citizens and residents.

| Lion cubs born in Liwonde National Park

| We’re delighted to announce that a pride of lions in Malawi’s Liwonde National Park has welcomed three little lion cubs! The discovery was made by Lilongwe Wildlife Trust‘s monitoring team in April. Lilongwe Wildlife Trust has been working hard to confirm successful breeding in this pride after witnessing multiple mating events. Read More

| Malawi Maintains Tourism Momentum | |
| Although we’ve all spent much of the last year in lockdown and Malawi saw very few visitors, members of its tourist industry did not remain idle. Quite the reverse! With time to re-focus, many of Malawi’s operators and properties introduced new initiatives and pushed on with a variety of developments – all with the aim of providing an even better experience for their guests when tourism returns properly. | African Parks share Majete success in Annual Report

| African Parks, responsible for the management of 3 of Malawi’s major national parks and wildlife reserves, have released their latest annual report. Over a series of articles, we will take a look at the achievements, successes and future plans for Majete Wildlife Reserve, Liwonde National Park and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. First up is their work in Majete Wildlife Reserve. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, African Parks have achieved a huge amount in the Reserve through 2020. And 2021 promises even more, with planned translocations of more rhino and giraffe as well as, most excitingly, wild dog! Read More

| Lilongwe Airport safe for travel during pandemic

| Malawi largest airport in the capital city of Lilongwe, the Kamuzu International Airport (LLW), has received accreditation to be ‘safe for travel’ during the COVID-19 pandemic. Airport Developments Limited, a government owned entity who manage the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe, has announced that the airport have been officially accredited on the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) program for the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past month, we have produced a series of articles highlighting projects they have been responsible for in more depth, showcasing some great developments for tourism and how effective they have been in maintaining the livelihood of many in Malawi.
