Iona Cheng, PhD, MPH will become Chief of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology within the Dept. of Epidemiology & Biostatistics -- taking over from John Witte, PhD -- effective July 1.
Alessandro Villa, DDS, MPH, PhD has been elected to the board of the International Society of Oral Oncology.
Sorbarikor Piawah MD, MPH received a 2020 V Scholar Grant for a project entitled, "Exploring the Role of Diet, Lifestyle, and the Gut Microbiome in Young Onset Colorectal Cancer among Latino Populations."
Anahat Singh, MA, MS received the Top Program Poster Award at the 2021 American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS) Virtual Conference for a poster entitled, "Survivorship Wellness Group Program: Increasing Gastrointestinal Cancer Survivor Participation and Engagement Through Automatic Referrals."
James Lee, MD was named a Parker Bridge Fellow by the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy.
Yael Mossé, MD (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) -- along with UCSF team members Natalia Jura, PhD, Kliment Verba, PhD, and William Weiss, MD, PhD -- received a Crazy 8 Award from Alex's Lemonade Stand for a project, "Drugging MYCN."

trainingRemembering Community Health in Research: Using Basic Science to Solve Complex Health Problems
A two-part series offered by the HDFCCC Office of Education and Training. You must attend Part 1 to compete for funding in Part 2.

Panel of basic & translational scientists who use collaborations with other scientific disciplines & communities to improve their science & accelerate its impact on population health. Register.
Part 2 | May 3, 3-5 pm | Pilot Award Competition
Conducting research that addresses cancers impacting our local area requires strong relationships with community members and local groups. HDFCCC is offering funding for 2 pilot projects to help trainees build these types of relationships. At this event, selected trainees will present community-focused project ideas to a team of community members and faculty. Two awards of up to $15,000 will be awarded. View the RFA (due Apr 23). Open to all trainees (must attend March 31 panel).
