R2A Review - A wrap of Engineering Due Diligence

Hi

Welcome to our winter newsletter.  As we approach the end of the financial year, R2A has had a busy few months.

With the WHS legislation finally commencing in WA on the 31 March, we have delivered a number of courses for organisations including Rio Tinto and Western Power on how to demonstrate safety due diligence.  We have also completed a SFAIRP review for a new fishway passage at Bright, a safety due diligence review for Court Services Victoria, as well as a marine firefighting review for the CFA.

Our strong partnership continues with Engineering Education Australia with over 20 courses (public and in-house) delivered this financial year.  Another two public courses have been scheduled in July and August (see details below).

We were also thrilled to launch the 12th edition of our R2A text – Engineering Due Diligence: How to demonstrate SFAIRP.  If you missed the launch webinar, we’ve added the recording to our text product page that you can watch here.

On a personal note, I enjoyed presenting at the 3rd Industrial Manslaughter conference on 31 May. As the engineer amongst the lawyers, I was happy to share R2A’s approach on how to positively demonstrate due diligence and, in turn, make workplaces safer. Conference organiser, Informa, has also kindly given access to my presentation and you can watch it here. What I presented and how it relates to organisational culture towards safety is also outlined in a new article on SFAIRP Culture and will be the focus of our next free webinar. See below for details on both.

Richard and I continue to enjoy the hybrid model of R2A at the moment combining online training and consulting work, with some in-person meetings and projects starting to return.  However, as we head into the second half of 2022, we are hopeful that there will be an opportunity to increase some of those face-to-face aspects, especially here in Victoria.

If you have any questions or queries relating to engineering due diligence and how to demonstrate SFAIRP, please get in touch with Richard or I – we are always happy to chat. Email admin@r2a.com.au or call 1300 772 333.

Until next time,

Gaye Francis

SFAIRP CULTURE
Blog & Upcoming Webinar

The Work Health & Safety (WHS) legislation has changed the way organisations are required to manage safety issues which often needs a change in cultural mindset for many organisations.

The SFAIRP approach is attempting to move safety from the pathological question: Is this bad enough that we have to do something about it, to the generative perspective: Here’s a good idea, why wouldn’t we do it

Read our blog and then join us as we explore this in more detail in our free webinar on Tuesday 12th July at 12pm.

In January, R2A launched the 12th Edition of our text Engineering Due Diligence - How To Demonstrate SFAIRP.
