Our Amazing Placencia Peninsula
Belize
opens August 15. So how do I Visit? The
airport officially opens August 15 (physical boarders will remain closed). United will commence on August
15th with 5 flights per week from Houston. American will commence with daily flights out
of Miami on August 18th. Delta will start September 03 with flights 3 times per
week from Atlanta
You
are encouraged to take a PCR test within
72 hours of departure. Bring the results
with you and you will be fast tracked through the airport. If you do not
have the test results then a rapid test will
be mandatory at the Belize airport. There is a newly constructed health clinic in Terminal 2
with eight independent testing rooms available for health screening. The rapid test includes two methods; a Rapid
Antigen test (nasal swab) and an Antibody IgG/IgM combo test (finger prick
blood test). Both take approximately 5 to 15 minutes for the patient to receive
their results. You will need to
pay the $50 fee. If you test negative then you are clear to travel to you
pre-booked hotel. Several hours will be needed if a rapid test needs to be taken. All arriving passengers who test positive at
the airport, whether tourist or citizen, will be placed in a mandatory quarantine for 14 days at a designated belize city facility at the passenger’s
expense. All
visitors will need to download the government app before arrival. This app,
however, is not quite ready yet for
download (BMA will send out info in another newsletter once the app is available). Visitors will also need to pre-book
a hotel room at a designated “Gold Standard” hotel. This list is being updated daily and currently
the list includes the following hotels:

Please
make travel arrangements to Placencia from
the international airport through your hotel. They will be the best to assist you. We
are very excited and cautiously optimistic about Belize opening back up to the world. Such an amazing country with so much to offer
yet still so under the radar. |
