| Hi , Welcome to the Tech Learning Collective Newsletter. | | |
| "Make it Yours" with Apple Accessibility FeaturesiPad and Mac have many great features built in enabling everyone to learn and create in the ways that work best for them. Built in features accommodate users with diverse needs, such as visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive abilities, as well as providing ways for all users to access technology to be productive and creative. This week we share with you some of our favourite features built into Apple devices that can support teaching and learning for teachers and students. Did you know that Apple Support Youtube Channel has short videos to help you with these features? Click on the heading 🔗s below. | |

| Read the entire screen or a selection of text. You can also highlight words, sentences — or both — as they’re spoken. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Spoken content. | |
| Enlarge what’s on screen. Choose full-screen view or picture-in-picture view, which shows the magnified area in a separate window while the rest of the screen stays the same. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Zoom. | |
| Increase text legibility and visibility
or enhance the display’s colours and contrast on an
app-by-app basis. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size. | |
| Play calming sounds, such as the
ocean or rain, to improve student focus, mask
unwanted noise and minimise distractions Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio / Visual
| |
| Allow students to express themselves with speech to text. Students can use their voice to dictate text anywhere you can type it. The dictate microphone is located next to the spacebar on the onscreen keyboard. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard. Turn on Enable Dictation. | |

| | Additional Built in Features to Support All Learners
| | |
| | With the latest OS students can select text to copy or translate, right from a photo or paused video. | | |
| | | Do Not Disturb now includes Focus which can be used to help students concentrate on a task. The Focus feature can silence all notifications to keep distractions to a minimum. | | |
| | | Use the Magnifier App to increase the size of any physical object you point at, such as a text books, novels or even notes on a whiteboard, to make text easier to read. | | |
| |
| | Safari Reader formats a webpage to show just the relevant text and images. While viewing an article in Reader view you can also adjust the size and font of the text as well as the background colour of the page. Handy way to focus students in on the learning at hand without distractions and in a style that suits their needs. | | |
