| | ✨ Science Week Interactive Journals in Pages ✨National Science Week is coming up in Australia this August (12th - 20th) and is an annual event that celebrates science and technology. Many schools host inspiring and interactive sessions for their students, based around a theme set by the Science Week organisers. This year the theme is 'INNOVATION - Powering Future Industries'. What a topic!! The National Science Week website has loads of great resources to download and use in the classroom, it is definitely worth a visit. Another set of resources that you might be interested in exploring over Science Week are the following interactive journals created in the app, Pages. | |
| | Science Week Journal: Foundation - Grade 2 | |
| | The Foundation - Year 2 journal explores the meaning of innovation, asks students to be innovators in a range of mini-challenges and then encourages students to use innovation as they move through an inquiry cycle to solve a real-world problem... designing an insect trap to safely capture insects for further study. This project culminates with students creating a movie or podcast to share their message with the world. You can access this journal from the Apple Education Community Forum here.

| | This journal follows a similar structure to F-2, exploring innovation, completing innovation challenges and then using innovation and inquiry to design a solution to the plastic pollution problem in our oceans and waterways. Again, students are asked to share their design and innovation with the world by creating a movie or podcast on the iPad. | | Both journals use the creative tools within the Pages app, asking students to capture images, create movies, draw and explain their thinking throughout the questions and challenges. You can even have the text read to your students by tapping the audio button on each page. Why not work through these journals with your students over Science Week? Or, download and edit to choose the pages best suited to your needs. | |
