We pray that you and your family are healthy and safe. We are so sorry that we are all experiencing such upheaval in our state, nation and the world. We are truly in an extraordinary times but are confident that this will pass, and we will all be able to resume our lives in the not too distant future. 

As you can imagine, given the coronavirus circumstances, there is not a lot to update you on, but we do want to keep you informed and to also let you know that applications for the 2020-2021 school year open this Friday, May 1st at 12 noon.

As all of you know, our program had already experienced a time where a new IRS regulation literally changed the “rules of the game” in the middle of our program year. We are still awaiting an IRS final clarification ruling on donations to our program and other tax credit programs like ours. 

Also, we are still working with legislative leadership on some adjustments to our law in response to the IRS changes. We will keep you informed on both of those items, but with the uncertainty of the coronavirus situation, we do not have a specific time frame on either of these.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS FOR 2020-2021

Applications for the 2020-2021 school year will open this Friday, May 1st and remain open until July 31st. As always, scholarships are awarded based upon need and funding, not on a first-come-first-served basis. As long you apply within the three month timeframe, your student’s application will be considered.

There will be a new $60 application charge that will cover two years, which means that next year's application will rollover for the 2021-2022 school year unless your student's paperwork is out of date. 

Every student will need to have only one of our two forms uploaded to the application in TADS, either:

• Proof of Eligibility (signed by a medical professional)

• Educator Eligibility (signed by a school administrator)

We realize that during this coronavirus crisis, it may be difficult to get in to see your medical professional. Please know that you have until July 31st to submit one of these documents. 

If your student has an IEP, it will need to be on file at your student's school. 

Again, we only need one of the two forms uploaded to TADS. NO OTHER FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED. 

If you miss the open application period (May 1st - July 31st), you can still apply but will be placed on a waitlist. 

RESOURCES FOR YOU

We continue to work remotely as we suspect many of you are doing. Becky is doing her best to communicate with schools and parents, and we are issuing checks to the schools as donations come in. Thank you for your patience.

Each week, we are speaking with CPAs and donors as we work to raise scholarship money. For the most part, they are waiting on the IRS clarification so that they can donate to our program as they have in the past.

We are as determined and committed as always to overcome the challenges we’ve been given and are confident that our program will emerge stronger and more resilient.

One Last Thing… the Parental Refundable Credit

The Department of Revenue wants to remind you that 2020 spring scholarship grant will apply to calculations for the 2020 Parental Refundable Credit (not the 2019 credit).
