SOR4D programme: Second call for proposals launched by SNSF and SDC

Researchers and development actors from policy and practice are invited to collaborate in transnational and transdisciplinary consortia. The programme is open to all disciplines from the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, health and life sciences. Proposals must explicitly aim at systemic solutions that simultaneously address several of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. Join the information event on 5 Dec and submit pre-proposals by 13 February 2023

 
 

Save the Date: KFPE annual conference, May 5, 2023 

Organised in cooperation with SUDAC and the SNSF, the KFPE conference is a meeting place for all actors involved in collaborative global research projects. As last year, the physical gathering in Bern (afternoon of May 5) will be accompanied by a virtual workshop series spread over several weeks on varied topics relevant to global research collaboration. Leading House Africa: Call to sponsor African participants (PhD students) for Seasonal Schools in Switzerland

Mountain Research and Development: Addressing Challenges of Hazards, Risks, and Disaster Management in Mountain Regions. 

Healthy social–ecological systems in mountains are essential for reducing disaster risk and achieving sustainable development globally. Based on insights from the Himalayas, the Andes, Iceland, Japan, and Saint Vincent, the articles of this focus issue chart ways of reducing disaster risk and fostering partnerships among stakeholders.

Countering Commodity Trade Mispricing in Low-Income Countries: A Prescriptive Approach

Commodity trade mispricing, especially the undervaluation of commodity exports, disproportionately harms low-income countries that depend on commodity exports for most of their export earnings. This article proposes rule-based pricing methods to counter this inequality.


 
 

Triple Nexus in Fragile Contexts: Next Steps Fragile contexts call for engagements where humanitarian, peace and development actors work together for more impact. Yet, the implementation of this “Triple Nexus” approach is challenging. This policy brief argues that international actors need to partner with local actors, rather than using them as sub-contractors and outsourcing security risks to make the triple nexus effective.
