After 31 years of deep satisfaction, much hard work and many important friendships, we had hoped to sell and retire soon.

Instead, New Sammy’s Cowboy Bistro was in the path of the Almeda Fire and thus the path of history. We are sad to report that it was burned to the ground along with everything else we owned.

Divided into two lots, our plan was to build a small house with a garden on the upper piece after New Sammy’s sold. While the property itself is still for sale, it is very much a “hot item” in the wrong sense and greatly devalued. We expect (hope) to receive an insurance settlement for the loss of the restaurant, but we don’t yet know how much or by when.

Thanks to our local community, we are being wonderfully cared for while we regroup. Thanks to longtime customer, and friend, Leslie Crabtree, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help us get by without an income while we wait on insurance and other friends to build our little house.

New Sammy’s will not reopen, but we hope to put a commercial kitchen in our new house for future possibilities and that New Sammy's will remain alive in many memories for a long time to come. We pulled together a few photos below to remember the restaurant by.

If you know us well, then you know that years ago we made a commitment to live simple, self-reliant lives, and moreover that accepting, much less asking, for help does not come naturally to us.

We are so grateful to feel the appreciation of so many friends of the restaurant.

And thank you again for 31 years!
