CADA Design brought us in to work on a new restaurant for José Pizarro, which has just opened on the ground floor of the Broadgate Circle development — a large, 32-acre office and retail destination in the heart of the City of London, adjacent to Liverpool Street station.

The 48-cover restaurant (with a further 18 covers outside) serves a varied menu, including classic Spanish dishes, and has been designed to retain an authentic feel whilst incorporating contemporary design elements.

The walls are clad in solid reclaimed pine in a weathered grey finish to give a distressed rustic appearance — with concrete panels that have had specially designed digital artwork applied to them. 

Within the distressed pine cladding are housed waiter stations and wine coolers with a feature display made of terracotta pipes that are used for storing fine red wine.

The sumptuous blue leather banquette seating and distressed brass-covered tables are set on a grey porcelain tiled floor, with the main feature being a 12-metre servery and bar counter clad in silver forest granite; distressed brass; reclaimed distressed pine cladding completes the look.

A large bespoke feature social table for small parties takes centre stage with an 80mm Silver Forest granite top set on a reclaimed pine base, positioned beneath a floating ceiling raft with feature pendant lighting to define the space.

The concrete slab and all new M&E services have been painted out, with the restaurant space defined by floating ceiling rafts with feature lighting. 

The quality of the fit out has been well received by José Pizarro who said: “I am delighted with Datum and with the quality of the fit-out of my new restaurant. 

"Their attention to detail is second to none and we were very impressed with their high levels of service; together with their superb craftsmanship they have delivered a restaurant that we are all very proud of.”
