So much has changed, and yet businesses still need to communicate with
their clients and customers. With this in mind, I’ve formulated a new portrait-shooting
protocol that ensures I’m able to keep subjects Covid secure without
compromising on creative excellence.
This agile new set-up is informed by my
documentary background: working without an assistant and with a single stand light (so I can be in and out of a location quickly and with minimum disruption),
I’ll shoot from at least three metres away from the subject using a 180mm lens –
and of course wearing a face mask at all times. Although the long lens means
portraits will be contextual, images can of course be cropped and there are
often interesting creative possibilities in shooting to also capture
environment.
