Erich Biehle Born in 1941 in Lucerne, Switzerland, Erich Biehle is a well-known designer and artist. He was a student of famous Swiss artist Johannes Itten at the Zurich University of Arts and graduated from the Swiss Textile School Zurich. Erich started an international career as a textile designer, first in the U.S.A. and later in Paris where he created designs for the top fashion houses of the world such as Balenciaga, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Cardin, Lanvin, Jean Louis Scherrer, Dior, and Ungaro. As marketing and design director of Bally International, Erich was responsible for a successful relaunch of the brand. Erich is creating art with a special wax technique on Japan paper. He also paints acrylic on canvas. Many of his paintings are influenced by fabric design. In June 2014 Erich Biehle received the prestigious Grand Prix Design of the Swiss Confederation Award for his lifetime achievement (Art Basel, 2014).
