10 Years of Pumulani in Malawi
This year marks Pumulani Lodge’s 10th anniversary in Malawi! And what a wonderful ten years it has been. As Pumulani enters the double digits, we look back at a few fond memories and interesting facts over the decade.

Since opening, Pumulani's community projects have been growing thanks in part to the kind donations from their guests. Recently they have been able to supply sunscreen to 18 children with Albinism between Cape Maclear and the Nkopi areas. Pumulani are also very proud to be part of the “Pack for a Purpose” organization enabling guests to regularly bring useful items to be donated in the village. 
Orbis releases 2019 expedition dates to Malawi
The sustainably-minded Orbis Expeditions, a UK based tour operator specialising in responsible travel and community engagement, have now confirmed departure dates and itineraries of their 2019 trips to Malawi.

Orbis Expeditions founder Kate Webb says, “Our expeditions offer a chance for people to come and appreciate the beauty of Malawi while simultaneously giving some of their time to skills exchange and to support key local development initiatives.”
The first of the 2019 expeditions depart is in April 2019, giving you plenty of time to book that time away from work!
Serendib add Zaburi Beach to Hotel Chain
Serendib Hotels, Malawi’s only independent hotel chain, is pleased to present the newest addition to its portfolio, Zaburi Beach by Serendib.
Zaburi Beach is an exclusive barefoot luxury beach resort comprising of 14 elegant and spacious chalets. Large scale developments are underway to upgrade the resort to have 50 chalets uniquely finished in a rustic African Chic interior. Those developments are expected to be completed this year.

Located on the Mangochi lakeshore and set on 45 aches of lush green natural palms, Zaburi Beach offers a serene environment in which to relax, refresh and rejuvenate.
 
Cycle Malawi launch 9 Day Lake of Stars Cycle Tour
Cycle Malawi, a collective of cycling enthusiasts and organisers of cycling trips around Malawi, have launched a 9 Day Lake of Stars Cycle Tour. The tour has been created alongside the three-day Lake of Stars  music festival to bring a twist to the typical cycling tours.

Departing from Lilongwe, riders will cover a distance of 245 kilometres and cycle across the central region of Malawi’s beautiful remote countryside. En route, participants will visit the Nkoma Mission village, which started in 1897 by the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa. Moving on, riders will stop off at Dedza Pottery, situated in the highest town in Malawi known for its handmade pottery.
Latest updates from Central African Wilderness Safaris
Central African Wilderness Safaris recently celebrated signing a 20-year lease extension with the Government of Malawi for Chintheche Inn.

Commenting on CAWS signing the extension for the property, Chris Badger - Managing Director, Central African Wilderness Safaris stated: “The securing of this lease allows us to embark on an ambitious upgrading programme”.

Every month, CAWS releases the ‘Into the Wilderness’ newsletter with all the latest updates on their camps. This month tells us of the fantastic sightings enjoyed by the guests of Liwonde’s reintroduced Lions, close to Mvuu!
Latest news from Malawian Style
Dynamic local Malawi tour operator, Malawian Style have published their June Newsletter and, as usual, it’s packed with trip ideas and opportunities and information on some great up-coming events in Malawi.

Fisherman’s Rest: The importance of Libraries
Fisherman’s Rest, who work on community projects in Malawi and also run their own lodge for their participants and volunteers, have been amazed by the results libraries are making in schools. They are itching to get more libraries up and running to give thousands of children the opportunities to learn and achieve more than they ever dreamed or felt was possible! 

The schools with libraries are performing better than other schools, not only in Madziabango and Nankhumba but also in the surrounding educational zones.
African Parks’ 2017 Report shows remarkable successs
African Parks have been responsible for transforming Malawi's wildlife in recent years, helping it to emerge as one of Africa's most complete destinations. 

Their 2017 report shows all the success they've had in 12 months, including successful relocations of cheetah into Malawi's Liwonde National Park and elephant into Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, developments to bring more lions to Majete Wildlife Reserve, and their successful campaign to combat poaching to create a strong future for Malawi's thriving wildlife. 
Ethiopian Airlines named Africa’s Best Airline
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's leading airline, serves Malawi with daily flights to both Lilongwe and Blantyre. It is also a 49% shareholder of Malawi Airlines, providing regular flights to and from Malawi across Africa and internationally. Ethiopian Airlines is delighted to announce that it secured a top prize at the 2018 World Airline Awards, being named ‘Best Airline in Africa’ for the second time. 

The World Airline Awards are independent, introduced in 1999 to provide a customer satisfaction study that was truly global.
