Mississippi becomes the tenth state to get

Commonsense Carry / Permit-less Carry

On April 15, 2016, Mississippi became the tenth state to get Commonsense Carry when Governor Phil Bryant signed House Bill 786.  We love this guy--he signed the law with a Glock holstered on his hip!  Mississippi follows on the heels of West Virginia and Idaho which got Commonsense Carry earlier this year.

Unfortunately, after four years of trying, Utah still does not have Commonsense Carry due to opposition from Governor Herbert.
.

Commonsense Carry, also known as Constitutional Carry, allows the carrying of concealed firearms without a permit.  When passed, Commonsense Carry will retain Utah’s permit system for those desiring a permit.  For more information, see Commonsense Carry information.

Urgent Action Required: Contact Senators Hatch and Lee and ask them to not confirm Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court

Contact Senators Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee and ask them to:

“Oppose the nomination of Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court.

From the NRA-ILA:

We have been warning of the grave danger to your rights posed by Barack Obama’s choice to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court. With typical arrogance, Obama deliberately chose the candidate with the most anti-gun record of his short-list of finalists. Now he and his usual collaborators in the media and academia seek to mock and disparage the principled stand pro-freedom groups, including your NRA, are taking against Garland.

Garland’s antigun ideology is clear from his record. While serving in his capacity as an appeals court judge, for example, Garland voted to give D.C.'s unconstitutional gun ban a second chance. He also cast a vote to uphold a Clinton-era policy of documenting and registering law-abiding gun buyers, despite federal statutes passed specifically to prevent this.

Please act today.  With the death of Antonin Scalia the court now stands at 4 pro-gun judges and 4 anti-gun judges.  If Obama’s nominee is appointed to the court all future gun cases will be decided against gun rights.  Cases that could soon be heard before the Court include wether it is unconstitutional or not to ban so called “assault weapons”, that is modern sporting rifles.

Utah loosing ability to shoot on some public lands due to “trigger trash."

As the weather warms up and we head outdoors to shoot on public lands, please remember to not leave any trash after you are done shooting.  Even if an area has lots of shot-up televisions and cans, it does not mean that it is acceptable to leave “trigger trash” behind when you are done shooting.  We continue to lose access to public lands due to a few irresponsible shooters who leave shot-up cans, computers, etc. after shooting.  We have worked with the Salt Lake BLM and they are a good bunch of folks who support shooting.  However, they are tasked with protecting public lands, and they will ticket those littering. Worse yet, they have and will shut down areas to shooting when trigger trash becomes a problem.

Before heading out to shoot on public lands check the website or contact the agency managing the land.  There are often temporary closures due to revegetation efforts or fire hazards as well as closures to do trigger trash.  Avoid a ticket!
