Last week, working hard to dissolve urban barriers, I shot a
series of quick-fire contextual portraits in South London, with each completed
in ten minutes or less (one while waiting for the lights to change). Taken with
an eye on finding interesting and diverse subjects, these pictures were
live-streamed into a pop-up gallery in Soho to support the launch of new Irish whiskey brand, Sexton.
Out on location, I called on the same things I use in any
portraiture job: creativity, the ability to make decisions quickly, and respect for the subject. This shoot also gave me the chance to use
a new technical set-up I've been working on, getting subjects to light themselves
with LED light sticks.
