TARGET AUDIENCE
Neonatologists, Fellows, Residents and Nurse Practitioners who use or plan to use point of care ultrasound in their clinical practice.
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW The workshop is designed for neonatal care providers who have a limited knowledge of bedside ultrasound. Through a combination of didactic and hands-on workshop sessions using simulation equipments and realistic phantom models, the workshop attendees will learn fundamentals of ultrasound physics and scanning techniques in following neonatal modules - Brain (Anatomy, Doppler, Brain injury, IVH, Post hemorrhagic ventricular dilatation, NIRS)
- Heart (Anatomy, basic cardiac evaluation, approach to cardiovascular support)
- Lung (Basic lung evaluation, diaphragm, upper airway and ETT position)
- Intestine (NEC, liver, abdominal collections, Intestinal obstruction assessment)
- Procedure (Vascular access, UA/UVC position, ventricular & bladder tap, lumbar puncture)
The workshop is being taught by many of our neonatal ultrasound experts from US and Canada. Will have limited number of participants to optimize their best hands-on learning environment. At the end of this workshop the participant would develop an understanding of the physics and utility of point of care ultrasound in neonatology; able to diagnose conditions commonly identified at the point of care ultrasound; and able to optimize their procedural skills in neonatology by using bedside point of care ultrasound technology.
