Welcome to our third newsletter of 2019. With it being the first issue of a new financial year, we wanted to quickly discuss our business plans. The last 12 months saw some major changes, namely with the departure of Partner Tim Procter. This gave Richard an I and opportunity to reflect on where we see ourselves over the next decade. Our business model has changed, in that we have really become trusted advisors for clients rather than commercial consultants. Along with Richard’s training and education, this advisory role is something that Richard and I really enjoy doing and are committed to continuing. We like that we are changing the way organisations focus on precautions and getting on with things rather than compliance and saying why things are too hard. As for the present, we have lots going on including pilotage reviews for TasPorts and Brisbane Marine Pilots, a safety review for Port Phillip Sea Pilots' new launch vessel operations, and a review of equipment for Navy clearance divers. In addition, we have also recently completed a hazardous tree review for the CFA and development of a water sector interdependencies methodology for DELWP. We have also been working on our first webinar. It's on Thursday 19 September at midday and is a one-hour Introduction to Engineering Due Diligence. Oh, and it’s FREE! Registration details below. Also detailed below are our final EEA workshops for 2019 (Melbourne and a new date for Brisbane), an article by Richard on Why the Philosophy of Compliance Fails, and information on our textbook. If this newsletter has peaked interest in how engineering due diligence may help your organisation, we’d love to hear from you on risk@r2a.com.au or 1300 772 333. ’Til next time, Gaye Francis |
