At the cross-industry innovation summit, Steve Rader presented how NASA leverages multiple open innovation platforms to tap into a world of knowledge and skills. Steve was also featured in a great article by Forbes.

New keynotes! cross-silo leadership & cross-silo collaboration ♻️ 🎧 
The last months I’ve delivered multiple keynotes on cross-silo leadership & team collaboration (burst out of the bubble) and on smarter approaches for sustainability, there is so much we can still learn from other organisations in totally different sectors, to come up with new beautiful combinations! I am amazed by all the new examples I come across!

HandSolo: David, the guy who built his own LEGO arm 💪🏼 

Imagine a very nice guy, with a big smile, who literally created his own arm. That’s David Aguilar Amphoux, who describes himself as:
Curiosity: 8/10
Sympathy: 9/10
Willpower: 10/10
Arms: 1/2

It was really great to meet David, who gave an impressive and moving talk at the cross-industry innovation summit. #RespectMan 💪🏼

Health Care is in full transition, the NHS (UK’s National Health Services) faces many technology challenges. At the InterSystems NHS Health & Care event in Birmingham, I got to deliver my 'ideaDJ: rock eco-systems with cross-industry innovation' keynote.

The organisation did a nice near real-time summary as well as a nice interview on site.

Training for space via ‘analogs’ 👩🏼‍🚀

Astronaut Jessica Meir is no stranger to extreme environments. She’s studied penguins in Antarctica and mapped caves in Italy, all of which prepared her for the ultimate extreme environment: space.

How Amazon uses failures for innovation! 🛑✋✅ 

Paul Misener, VP Global Innovation at Amazon spoke passionately about embracing failures for innovation.

Three main leadership lessons I took from his talk:

1) Amazon tries to fail internally, not externally.
2) Fail & fail again, prove your idea fails and when you fail at failing… you might be onto something!
3) Leaders at Amazon should be right… most of the times.

This fits perfectly with the ‘Nearling’! In short, the nearling is a better word for failure. The full definition:

'A nearling is a positive word for something new that was done with the right intentions, which has not – yet – led to the right result.’
