We Need Jesus more than ever!
We live in a broken and hurting world.  Our human attempts to make things better, no matter how well intentioned, fall far short of the mark.   We need Jesus!   We need God's Word, his love, his grace and his power all through Jesus to be able to impact our world for the better.   Yes there is a lot of good hard work going on, but that empowered by God’s Holy Spirit is the only way to see effective change take place which will benefit every area of our own lives as well as those we serve in Jesus Name!  Let us continue to seek God’s hand to help us as we endeavour to serve Him.

The Haiti Project:

Mission International is delighted to announce that we have been invited to partner with the Church of Scotland Guilds to develop our Haiti Project.   The project, in Ouanaminthe, will be a church, a school and a community centre in the heart of the city in what is the poorest country in the western hemisphere.   Even before the massive earthquake on January 2010 Haiti was poor, however after an estimated 200,000 deaths and 1 Million made homeless by the earthquake, Haiti’s troubles have been increased many fold.   Needy, orphaned children take to the streets to try to survive Families indenture their children as ‘Restavecs’ to work in awful conditions for more wealthy families.   Voodoo also lurks in the community bringing fear and poverty with it too.  This £100,000 project is intended to bring education to both young and old and provide a base for the church to serve their community.   We thank god for the partnership with the Church of Scotland Guilds and with others who wish to help us bring help to the helpless in Haiti.
Summer Teams and project visits:

We have two teams visiting Haiti and Uganda this summer.   The smaller Haiti team is designed to organise and make ready for the construction of the Haiti Project later in the year.   The Uganda team is made up of pupils and teachers from Menzieshill High School in Dundee.   They have worked incredibly hard to fundraise for their fares and for the project work which will take place in Arua in north west Uganda.   The team will work with Arua Community Church and Solid Rock school as well as visit some projects designed to help the poor and visit a game park before heading back to Scotland.
Hugh Henderson, who will travel with the Uganda team will continue on to Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda before returning to Scotland again.
Trustees strategy event

Its not often that the Mission international trustees get the opportunity to spend a full day together to look at strategy and how they hope to take the organisation forward into the future.   The group, including new trustee Crawford Mackenzie, stayed overnight at the Log Cabin Hotel, Kirkmichael, Perthshire so they could get an early start and spent the day discussing how to develop the work into the future.   If the views were anything to go by, it seems that the distant future may be more visible than we think.   It was a successful and useful day and one we hope will mark a step forward as we seek to serve God amongst the world’s poor.
Container for Burundi:

Gunfire, violence and demonstrations on the streets of Bujumbura after an attempted coup and the on-going uncertainty regarding the proposed third term in office by President Pierre Nkurunziza have inspired fears that the country may be heading for further unrest after a relatively short time of peace.   We pray that there will be peace and that those in power will remember the people as they negotiate and plan for the future.
Recently a 20ft shipping container set off for Burundi from the port of Grangemouth via Dar es Salaam.   The container was situated at the yard of David Jack senior’s business during the time it was loaded and it should now be well on its way to its final destination.  The contents of tools, equipment, computers, tools and even a small Kubota tractor will be used to develop skills training and support for needy refugee returnees based at the Hope Centre.  Please pray that the container makes it through even though there is unrest in the country at this time.
Computers for Pakistan:

Mission International partners in Pakistan requested funding to provide computers for their Christian school.   Christian children and young people in Pakistan find life so difficult since there is no Government support for them and they are seen as only fit for menial tasks.  Also many young girls are taken a ‘sex slaves’ or to be married to Moslem men where they are converted against their wishes to Islam and then it is illegal for them to convert to Christianity if ever set free. This puts great pressure on those who try to bring education to them.  Mission International, due to the generous support of our donors, was able to fund some school computers to make sure the school complies with government guidelines.  A huge thank you to everyone who helped from our partners and the children of Pakistan.
Ganre village gets a school:

The very remote village of Ganre in North Ghana is to have a school build locally.   This village encounters severe flooding in the rainy season each year which can cut children off from their homes if they have gone the long walk to the nearest school some miles away.   Mission International donors have begun funding the construction of a small school in the village where teachers will be employed to bring primary education to the local children.   The school building will be used as a church on Sundays, as a polling station and a community hall when not in use as a school.   For most children in remote areas education is the one thing that is so difficult to acquire, due to distance and cost.   This school will bring education to their doorsteps for which they are immensely grateful.
Sponsor a child:

These happy children have recently found sponsors and are making their way through school as a result of the support they are receiving.   Mission International has sponsorship programmes in Burundi, Ghana, Haiti, Kenya and Uganda all of which require more sponsors to help so many needy children.  Our Haiti project is about to start a school and needs up to 300 sponsors to allow children there to attend school.   Please consider sponsoring a child through Mission International.   Your help will make sure a child’s life is transformed providing such basics as food, clothing, schooling and health care.  To sponsor a child to go to school costs £20/month
Go and preach, teaching:

Jesus teaching mandated from scripture here in Matt 28:18-20  “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  You may have the ability to preach and teach the scriptures and feel able to offer your gift to Mission International partners in the developing world.   If so please get in touch with us to discuss this further.
