English Teacher Workshop

This is a new one-credit education workshop intended for junior high and secondary English teachers.  During the week, you will have the chance to “talk shop” with other English teachers.  Workshop participants will work independently and in groups on a variety of activities.  You will have time for reading and quiet reflection.  This is an opportunity to learn from fellow teachers and to share with others the methods that work well in your discipline.  You’ll enjoy the beautiful Mendocino Coast while attending this class at PUC’s own Albion Retreat and Learning Center.

Teacher Workshop 2015

June 15-19, 2015
Class meets each morning from 9 am until noon.  Afternoons will include time for reading, writing, and reflection.  Optional afternoon outdoor activities are planned for workshop participants.  Spouses and families are welcome (note, childcare is not provided by PUC or the Albion Retreat and Learning Center).

Instructors

The workshop will be facilitated by a PUC English professor in collaboration with a high school English teacher.  The instructors will facilitate discussions on best practices in teaching writing, reading, and critical thinking. Academic Credit

Register for one credit of EDUC 420 Education Workshop through the PUC Education Department website.  Pacific Union teachers can submit a tuition waiver form to PUC's Business Office.

Arrangements for lodging and meals can be made with the Albion Retreat and Learning Center Manager via email at albion@puc.edu or by calling 707-937-5440. Please note that participants are solely responsible for lodging, and meal fees incurred during this workshop and for travel to and from the Albion Retreat and Learning Center.  Make your lodging reservations now.

Cabin (1-4 people): $250 for the week 
Kitchenette* (1-4 people): $250 for the week 
Hearty vegetarian meals: $150/person for the week
