Dear Friend or Colleague,

Greetings from Macao! We are excited to welcome you to the forthcoming 3rd Conference of the International Place Branding Association and the 6th International Destination Branding and Marketing Conference (DBM-VI), which will take place 5 to 7 December 2018.  Just some reminders:

    • Deadline for abstract submissions is drawing closer, on May 5, 2018 (!). Best to get on with those abstracts! When ready, upload here.

    • If you are among the early birds who have already submitted, your abstract or full paper is receiving attention and reviews will be out shortly after May 5.

    • Submissions for Art Gallery contributions is now open! The Art Gallery is one of the most unique and special features of the IPBA-DBM Conference—or of any conference I’ve attended, for that matter—and we’re thrilled that it will return this year.

The premise of the Art Gallery is that place branding occurs not just by way of diplomacy, social processes, or marketing but also by an emergent organic process. Thus, you will find place branding manifested in jewelry, poetry and literature, art, and even in music, endemic in a certain place and time.

The Art Gallery is curated by Prof. Mihalis Kavaratzis and Dr. Massimo Giovanardi of the University of Leicester. Incidentally, at last December’s 2nd IPBA Conference, Massimo performed LIVE a self-composed song inspired by the changes of the season in his Italian hometown. Click on the video link below to watch. Also, read more about last year's inspiring Art Gallery session in Catia Rebelo’s online report.
