TO OPEN IN DOWNTOWN KITCHENER LATE MAY 2018
Redesigned space and menu will focus on hearty fare and

and signature cocktails will have a new restaurant to enjoy with the opening of
The Rich Uncle Tavern (www.richuncletavern.ca) in Kitchener, Ontario. The Rich Uncle Tavern will open on May 28th
in place of The Berlin which, announced by the co-owners of Ignite
Restaurant Group, will be closing its doors on May 14th. The two-floor restaurant space in the heart of
Downtown Kitchener will close for two weeks in May as it undergoes an expansive
renovation to its design and decor, in preparation of the new restaurant
opening. “There’s a
storied history engrained in Kitchener, and we really just wanted to make a
place that honours the establishments that once lined our downtown streets,
while also creating an enjoyable spot for anyone to indulge in delicious fare
and craft beverages,” said Ryan Lloyd-Craig, co-owner of The Ignite Group,
which owns Red Circle Brewing Co., Graffiti Market, and co-owns Red Circle
Coffee Co. “We will forever have fond memories of our time as The Berlin and
are grateful to every patron for their support in making it the culinary

Restaurant Group as the Executive Chef of The Rich Uncle Tavern, Benjamin
Lillico will design an
inventive menu built on hearty
live-fire fare and shareable eats that pay homage
to the brasseries and taverns of yesteryear. “We’re all really excited to bring a fresh and inviting
experience to the region,” said Chef Benjamin
Lillico. “We’re eager to provide wholesome food developed with quality,
Canadian ingredients and cannot wait to bring a convenient and unique staple to
Downtown Kitchener and our surrounding communities.” Benjamin Lillico is one of
the region’s top chefs with several awards and achievements under his belt. He
was a recent recipient of the Top 30 Under 30 Award with the Ontario Hostelry
Institute. Defined
by its humble approach to food and beverage, The Rich Uncle Tavern
will feature a charming, “lived-in” ambience for patrons to gather with old
friends and find some new ones. Whether
