Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Community Members:

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!  I hope you had an excellent summer and are ready for all of the exciting things that lie ahead for our district and students.  Like our community, we are continuing to evolve to meet the needs of a growing population with varying needs.  And we are so excited on this, the eve of opening newly renovated Broadwater and McKinley Schools, and as we start to see Medicine Crow and Ben Steele Middle Schools rise, and all of the other opportunities ahead.

The 2015-2016 school year will begin on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance and students will once again be gathering at bus stops and riding or walking to school, so please remember to always be vigilant and drive slow in school zones.  Traffic will be more congested around our schools and as parents, students and staff become familiar with school routes and routines, please continue to be patient.  Should you have any questions, need additional information or simply need clarification prior to opening day, please contact your student’s school or check their school website.

You can expect to see even greater improvements in the coming year to both school facilities and educational opportunities.  Guided by the District's Strategic Plan, we have been working hard on a number of areas including: making great strides to improve academic achievement for all students; providing widely-varying education for our students including focusing on Career Technical Education and STEM initiatives such as Project Lead the Way; exploring even more unconventional teaching and learning methods; and increasing parent and community involvement.  In short, we are excited to gain even more speed bringing unique opportunities to, and solving challenges in, our schools.

None of these opportunities for your students could be achieved without your hard work and support, and we are grateful to each and everyone of you.  I urge you to see for yourself what one community can do when we work together for our students.  But our work is not yet done and we urge you to continue to be involved in your student's, and this community's, future.  In this regard, I have attached a sheet with information that will be helpful to you as your family begins the school year.  Please take a moment to look it over and, as always, I welcome any questions, suggestions or comments you may have.

Have a tremendous school year and I look forward to the bright future that lies ahead for the District, your students and your families.

Sincerely,

Terry Nelsen Bouck
