Malawi's translocation of #500elephants complete
This year Malawi has made history with the #500Elephants translocation run by African Parks. The initiative  saw elephants from Majete Game Reserve and Liwonde National Park transported across Malawi to their new home in Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. 

The famous translocation had the world’s news watching with CNN, BBC & ITV all covering the story. The project has also had assistance from Royalty with Prince Harry working with African Parks during his stay in Malawi last year.

Malawi gets 3 winners in the Tusker Awards!
The Tusker Awards, an annual awards which highlights an elite selection of Africa’s greatest products has awarded a third of its categories to Malawi!

The Tusker Awards is run by the Safari Index, a respected database of everything Africa can offer, including game lodges, camps, reserve, parks and safari ‘hotspots’. The prestigious awards are nominated by the team and then voted for by the public. Three of Malawi’s products, Chelinda Lodge, Chelinda Camp and Malawian Style have received awards.

It comes as no surprise that Malawi comes out on top at these awards with so many unique accommodations and unforgettable safari experiences waiting to be discovered. Congratulations to all concerned! Read out article for more details.
New trails at Nyika & Re-developments in Liwonde
Two of Malawi’s parks have seen some great product development in recent weeks with Central African Wilderness Safaris (CAWS) enhancing their guests’ experience at both Mvuu Camp & Lodge in Liwonde and Chelinda Camp & Lodge in Nyika.

Nyika is a stunning, undiscovered wilderness in northern Malawi and CAWS have launched a new hiking trail for guests of Chelinda Camp & Lodge to delve into Nyika’s beauty. But with changes in the north, come changes in the south too. Mvuu Camp & Lodge in Liwonde National Park have had significant renovations leaving the properties looking spectacular. Global Citizenship, the BBC and Bees!
Malawi’s Responsible Safari Company have been busy these past months with yet more innovations and developments.

Brand new, unique, itineraries have been created aimed at targeted areas, including Women’s Entrepreneurship and Global Citizenship for young people.  Alongside a number of new products, RSC have also introduced new members to its team and assisted in a BBC documentary and the continuing work with Malawian participant George. Lilongwe Wildlife Trust make huge impact in Malawi
Lilongwe Wildlife Trust (LWT) are a charity that works to protect endangered and injured wildlife in Malawi with its Lilongwe Wildlife Centre project.

Each month, LWT put all their successes in a newsletter, which certainly shows the extent of the hard work they do for Malawi’s conservation.

From releasing jackals, to moving elephants and releasing cheetahs, to healing monkeys, LWT provide us with fantastic stories which you can find in our summary articles here:

Awards, Aid Missions & Fleet Expansion for Ethiopian
Ethiopian Airlines, who own 49% of Malawian Airlines and have daily flights to Malawi serving both Lilongwe and Blantyre, have released news of their continuing fleet expansion, humanitarian aid missions, and their proud award  as the ‘Best Airline in Africa’ by SKYTRAX.

Star Bed and Infinity Pool from Robin Pope Safaris
Robin Pope Safaris, who are responsible for running the stunning Mkulumadzi Lodge and serene Pumulani Lodge, as well as running many tours around Malawi’s national parks and nature reserves, have given us an update on their current projects in Malawi.

RPS have now opened a stylish new infinity pool at Pumulani (its second), with a fantastic, elevated view of the lake.

Alongside the developments at Pumulani, Mkulumadzi is now home to a luxurious star bed with incredible 360 degree views of the Majete Game Reserve.
The Travel Centre launch Blantyre info desk
The Travel Centre, a local tour operator in Malawi that offers exciting personalised tour packages, have now launched a brand new info desk in the Sunbird Mount Soche hotel. Conveniently located in the reception area of the hotel, the desk is open for everyone to use - hotel residents and non-residents alike. As an integral part of the hotel, it’s particularly perfect for those staying at the Mount Soche to plan their tours and excursions whilst in Malawi.

Blantyre is wonderfully located at the heart of southern Malawi within easy distance of many of Malawi’s main tourism locations which the Travel Centre can assist with booking.

Central Afrlcan Wilderness Safaris publish a monthly newsletter that gives an insight in a variety of activities currently being undertaken in Malawi by the CAWS team.

In the past two months, CAWS has been hard at work in completing its renovations at Mvuu Camp and Lodge, as well as establishing an exciting elephant sanctuary in the Nyika Plateau National Park. Their ‘Pack for  a Purpose’ partnership with  Children in the Wilderness Malawi and plenty more updates can be found in their newsletters:
