Snowsports at Macarthur is now in its eleventh year and is a wonderful opportunity for all our students from Years 3 to 12. The programme is designed to meet students’ individual needs and caters to all levels of ability, from first-timers to advanced.

The main purpose of the programme is to enable students to develop their snowsports skills and to have fun.

Should students wish there are also opportunities to compete in the Interschools Snowsports Competition. In 2016 the Regional Interschools event is being held at Thredbo. Students may also have the option to compete in the Scots and Redlands Cups Ski Competitions, depending on the number interested.

Interschools is a series of school-age competitions in Alpine, Cross Country, Skiercross, Moguls, Snowboard and Boardercross. It is organised by the Interschools Snowsports Committee. All ability levels are encouraged to enter, with the emphasis on fun and participation at the regional level. Even if students have never competed before or are first-time skiers, the Macarthur Snowsports Programme enables you to learn all the skills that are required to participate in these fantastic events.

The programme occurs during the June/July holiday period with further opportunities in August and September for those students who qualify to represent Macarthur at the State and National Championships.

In 2016 students can become involved with the Macarthur Snowsports Programme independently and/or become involved in the Interschools and Scots/Redlands Competitions.

Parental support is welcome, however, all aspects of the programme will be fully supervised by Macarthur Staff and the students will be under the authority of the School during the camps and competitions.

Further information including, itinerary, equipment lists, forms, clothing and hire requirements will be sent home early in Autumn Term. If you would like further information and you are unable to attend the information evening, please make contact with Mr Bedingfield on 4647 5333

Macarthur Snowsports Supporters

The Macarthur Snowsports Programme is now in its 11th year and each year it has gone from strength to strength. Over this time there have been many people willing to give up their time to see our team become successful. The students should no doubt be proud of their achievements over the years.

Students who participate in the Macarthur Snowsports Programme are provided with 2-hour group lessons in order to assist with their skiing or boarding. In addition some students then opt to purchase private race lessons.

In order to further assist our boys and girls develop in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015 we were able to hire race coaches for snowboard and ski. The only reasons we were able to do this was because of the generosity of some parents and supporters.

Coaching enables students not only how to ski or board but how to race. Many people have asked, why not hire coaches and just spread the cost out. Coaches cost approximately $800 per day and to include this in the cost of the programme may mean that some students would be unable to take part. We always aim to keep the costs of our snowsports programme as low as possible. Race coaching is therefore only available if we can find enough people willing to be Macarthur Snowsports Supporters.

Individuals or businesses willing to become supporters of the Macarthur Snowsports Programme in order to hire the race coaches would be very much appreciated. Businesses and people would be acknowledged by having their name and/or logo printed in this booklet in the following year.  Acknowledgement will also be made in the School magazine, Tartan Ties.

Should you or your business be willing to consider this please contact Scott Bedingfield (Snowsports Co-ordinator and Head of Senior School) at Macarthur Anglican School on 4647 5333 or by email sbedingfield@macarthur.nsw.edu.au
