President's Message:
President's Message

Today, we start the next leg in our journey to turn Singapore into a world class aquatics nation. A new term, that has brought out a refreshed Executive Committee.

It was wonderful to see all of you at the AGM. Your presence and vote counted, and with new members Tan Yew Khuan, Dr Bervyn Lee, Samson Tan and Wilson Ang, we aim to serve you, and continue to strive towards achieving our long-term vision.

To achieve this greatness for aquatics in Singapore, we need to work together with you across all levels, from elite competition to driving participation at grassroots levels.

We look forward to a defining couple of months. The training, effort and commitment put in by the athletes, the coaching team, the athletes' parents, support systems and entire fraternity has been nothing short of extraordinary. We'll all sit with bated breath as we watch Joseph Schooling, Quah Zheng Wen and Quah Ting Wen do Singapore proud in Rio.

This year could be amongst the greatest in SSA's history, and potentially be the catalyst to take Singapore Aquatics to the next level - to be amongst the top 4 in Asia across every discipline.

Looking ahead, we must make big strides across every level and discipline, from discovering and grooming athletes into world-beaters, providing more platforms to enhance the level of competition at the club level, to becoming a regional aquatics hub.

A clear example of what we need to continue to do can be seen in Water Polo last month, where our national team sparred against global giants Australia and Greece.

Outside of the pool, we continue to put in place the right systems and structures in place to ensure our continued growth. We'll need to maintain our current partnerships, but also seek out new opportunities to develop new synergistic partnerships with like-minded organisations.

Earlier last month, we signed a five-year sponsorship deal worth $350,000 with Evacuation and Medical Support Unit Private Limited (EMS). EMS has supported the association for almost eight years, and we look forward to a fruitful relationship until 2020 and beyond.

We'd like to thank you once again for your continued support. Together, we'll take Singapore Aquatics to a world-class level.
