Welcome to our Newest Members!

Continuous Improvement at Seqirus - VIC - 23/03/17

"With many progressive companies embracing CI, we all find ourselves requiring advice at some time on this journey, so its a big win when you can tap into the Best Practice Network.
The Seqirus session was well presented with good visual "hands-on" content, a version of which we will use to empower our teams moving forward.
Many thanks for providing an excellent forum for CI / Ops Excellence."
Leon Thebus, CI Coordinator, B&D Doors
CUB - Senior Leaders Discussion Group - QLD - 28/03/17

"Our Best Practice Network group was given a comprehensive overview of the CUB Manufacturing Way.  Everyone was impressed by the quality and relevance of the Visual Management Boards.  Each board provided ample evidence of a high level of workforce engagement and ownership in improvement projects, standard work and 5S”.
David Greaves, CEO, Darwalla Group
CSR Way at Dandenong - VIC - 29/03/17

"It was great to get an inside view of a leading CI program and engage with some of the leaders in Australian manufacturing. I found the CSR presenters very informative and willing to share their findings from 'the CSR way'. It was also a great networking opportunity and I look forward to further discussions with members outside of the sessions."
Chris Thompson, Reliability Engineering, Nufarm
Branach - Lean Assessment - VIC - 20/04/17

"Participating in the Lean Audit of Branach gave me a great insight into their inner processes and future goals. Using the audit I believe both Branach and the participants greatly benefited from the observations allowing both parties to take home invaluable information.
I especially enjoyed touring the factory floor and interacting with the staff to learn the lean principles that have flowed throughout the business.
Events like this are a must if you wish to progress both your business as well as your individual lean knowledge."

Damian Cattenazzi, Production Engineer, Chemring

Asahi - Enabling Competitive Advantage - QLD - 27/04/17

It was with great pleasure, that I was able to attend the arranged site visit and presentation held at the Asahi Schweppes site in Goodna QLD. Many thanks to Steve Crewe - State Lean Manager, QLD who hosted the presentation and tour and to Kevin Bennett. Best Practice Network QLD, I found this visit to be of great value, allowing me to network with Managers from other industries."
Neil R. KingTeam Manager, Goodman Fielder Limited
Leica Biosystems - Metrics that Matter, Are We Winning? - VIC - 02/05/17

“A great event at Leica, and I was especially interested about how they integrated Associate Engagement into their core values. So many organisations talk about it, and it was great to see it applied in a practical tangible sense through metrics, tools and activities.“
Mark Cvek, Finishing Manager, Horizon Global
Bluescope - Flexible Manufacturing at Bluescope - NSW - 04/05/17

"The workshop was very interactive and provided a great platform for networking amongst CI practitioners. The site tour was a highlight of the visit.
It’s amazing how their relentless pursuit of customer service has transformed their organisation to become highly flexible and agile. The key take-away for me is their ability to bring about positive culture change with a fail-fast mentality.
We all came away with some learnings and in return, provided feedback on improvement opportunities for the site.
Kevin Leung, National CI Manager, Parmalat
Telwater - Factory Site Visit - QLD - 10/05/17

“BPN visits provide our employees with the opportunity to see, experience and network with other companies.  Our employees return with a renewed passion, enthusiasm and drive to continuously improve.  I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Telwater - a highly focused workforce, making quality products”.
Sheer Stockden, Human Resource Advisor, Laminex Australia Gympie Plant
Sugar Australia - Women in Operational Leadership - VIC - 18/05/17

"It was inspiring to hear all the stories shared by the panel members, and it is clear we still have a long way to go to true diversity and inclusion in Australian manufacturing. It was also great to see that all of the panel’s recommendations tied into contemporary MBA diversity studies.“
Mark Cvek, Finishing Manager, Horizon Global

 AME Boston

Each year we host a group of 10 Australian and New Zealand manufacturing practitioners on a benchmarking tour of some of North America’s best Lean organisations.

This is timed to coincide with the North American Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) Annual Conference in Boston, where up to 2,500 practitioners will gather for 5 days of Lean Learning and Networking.

"I attended the AME Dallas conference on two counts, firstly to meet a long term professional objective of getting to a US AME conference and secondly I was looking for "my why" as to why I've had many more failures than successes with implementing change and improvements, especially with why staff do not take up and run with "obvious" improvements.” Peter Ballas, Head of Operations, Note Printing

Best Practice Network Bike Group
Weekend Cruise to Walhalla, Victoria, 18-19 March 2017

By Will Day, Leica Biosystems

The BPN Motorcycle Club went on its first overnight excursion for the year on the 18th & 19th of March.

The morning was an easy warm-up ride through the hills towards Mirboo North where we stopped for lunch. From there, the group headed off to the overnight stop in Walhalla.

The final run into Walhalla was terrific – great scenery and just enough tight corners to make things interesting.  It was beer o’clock in Walhalla and the group settled in the garden of the pub for a relaxing afternoon.

The group headed home the next afternoon, capping off a simply excellent weekend – terrific riding roads, great company and well organised overnight accommodation.

Best Practice Network is Going to Western Australia!

Best Practice Network are very proud to launch on the West Coast on the 14th of June 2017!

The first event will be hosted by CSR Viridian in Perth. Rick Terpstra will outline the National CSR Manufacturing and Maintenance  WAY – a key part of their business improvement journey over the past 10 years.

This launch event has now booked out, but we have more exciting WA events planned. If you would like to keep updated on our WA events, please email Maria Yakimov, WA Network Coordinator, who will include you on our WA mailing list.
