Welcome to our March bulletin Dear Client. We hope this bulletin will keep you up-to-date with topical financial matters that can directly affect you… and your money! Brexit date looms large We're now living in interesting times (some might say 'surreal') with every likelihood they will become even more 'interesting' yet! Some will recall, the phrase "extend and pretend" came into being when the EU tried to deal with the Greek monetary problems... describing the enormous debt levied on the Greek people by the EU to avoid what then became known as GREXIT. EU loans were ultimately extended until 2080 as the pretence of a solution to the Greek monetary problems but, this "extend and pretend" solution is now an albatross of austerity hanging around the necks of future generations. Closer to home our own politicians are now conducting their own version of "extend and pretend" as they struggle to avoid implementing the Brexit vote of 2016. Whatever our individual views on Brexit, none of us should be happy at the ruthless manipulation of democracy by our politicians and 'the establishment'. Weathering current political storms It now seems very possible that the Brexit process will now be delayed indefinitely... after three years having already passed, during which time our politicians managed to side-step any meaningful dialogue. However, although we still have more relentless media coverage to endure, we can take small pleasure in the knowledge that life does carry on and the World is generally becoming a better place. Despite lurid headlines the UK economy remains relatively healthy and whilst there is little growth in your portfolio, it is also fair to say that it is weathering current storms rather well. As always, we are here to discuss any concerns you may have... although we cannot pretend to know what will happen next.
