International Transdisciplinarity Conference 2019: call still open

Joining Forces for Change! In line with the motto of the conference, which will take place in Gothenburg from 10 to 13 September 2019, we are inviting contributions from practitioners and researchers who are working in different types of collaborative research and change processes, to gauge the state of the art in both research and practice from across sectors and disciplines. Contributions can be made in the form of session, presentation, poster, installation, workshop, network event or open stage. Submissions from practitioners and from transdisciplinary teams are particularly welcome. The deadline for abstract submission has been extended to 31 March 2019.

Sustainable University Day 2019: registrations still open

The Sustainable University Day is the annual meeting of the funding program > U Change, which supports student projects and student project incubators for sustainable development. Every year, the Conference brings together students, university leaders, policy makers, non-profit actors and other higher education representatives to discuss how universities are responding to the challenges posed by sustainable development and which concrete measures should be taken. The Sustainable University Day 2019 will be organised on 29 March in Wädenswil in collaboration with the > Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

Manifesto of Interdisciplinarity

The purpose of this manifesto is to show that one consistent set of guiding principles provides compelling responses to diverse critiques of interdisciplinarity. The author, Rick Szostak, believes that advocates of interdisciplinarity need to achieve consensus about what interdisciplinarity is and how and why it is best pursued. These guiding principles simultaneously provide useful advice to the interdisciplinary researcher, teacher, program administrator, and student.

Digital Data a
s Subject of Transdisciplinary Processes

Initiated in October 2018, The 
DiDaT (Digital Data as Subject of Transdisciplinary Processes) project aims at identifying the most important challenges arising from the «interactions of ownership, economic value, use and access to digital data». Furthermore, it wants to make visible and to evaluate the multitude of societal effects and to develop strategies to enable individuals, businesses and other social systems to deal appropriately with these undesirable effects.

I2S News

The January/February i2S News is now available. It features ten key tips for policy impact, and how to understand and overcome confirmation bias for better decision making. It also provides information about the journal ‘Environmental Science and Policy’, as well as the Cybernetics Society.
