The Trustees of Iran Heritage Foundation sadly announce the death of our fellow Emeritus Trustee and President, Mrs Sedigheh Rastegar.

Mrs Rastegar was a dedicated and enthusiastic benefactor of the IHF, joining the Board of Trustees upon the death of her husband, our Founding Chairman, Dr Reza Rastegar. She assumed the office of the President of the IHF upon retiring from the Board.

Her generosity extended to many other philanthropic causes beyond the IHF. Her dedication to and love of Iran manifested itself in every aspect of her long and fruitful life from an early age, contributing to the founding of the Nour Aiyn school for the blind in Esfahan as an example. Amongst other causes she championed, in 2008 she founded and endowed a centre for research and post-graduate studies at the University of Tehran to celebrate the contributions of her husband for his pioneering work in the 1940’s in establishing the Veterinary Medicine College of Tehran University and the Pasteur Institute in Iran.

Mrs Rastegar was an icon amongst the British Iranian community and will be greatly missed by her many fans, devotees and friends.

We present our deepest condolences to our Co-Chairman, Mr Alireza Rastegar, Mrs Firouzeh Rastegar Diba, Mrs Soussi Rastegar Kerman and all other members of the Rastegar family.

A Memorial Service ("Khatm") will be held between the hours of 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Saturday 14th July at the Claridge’s Hotel, Brook Street, London W1K 4HR to celebrate a life well lived.
