The next rides we see lots of Elephants in dense bush and crossing one of the rivers with the youngsters playing in the water splashing about not knowing we were only 50 meters away. Wow! The last dinner at Wait A Little proves to be a comedy show for Else the housekeeper from Westphalia alias Sylvi. She doesn’t miss a beat to pull our legs and turn us into complete fools.
On our last ride we actually wanted to do some XC jumping but Philip is trying to put a cherry on top of all our exciting days......tracking lion! Crazy! We have to cross rivers to find the freshest trail of one young male. After two hours of heavy tracking we find him under a shady tree looking at us. Absolutely amazing to sit on a horse merely 20 meters away from that big cat staring at you.
Back at Wait A Little we have one more of Gerti’s lavish lunches before the drive back to the airport. A wonderful week with lovely people and great memories comes to an end.
As for me my nervous feelings where unfounded riding with such great horse people but I found out that being a back-up rider can be quiet exciting as you are always last except when a lion comes from behind, then you are first, ooops.
