July 2017 - Vol 3, No 12 - Best Suites of Los Cabos
Best Suites of Los Cabos
Last decade, conventional wisdom was travel agents were going away. Well, they weren’t, and in fact, their ranks have been growing, but
their growth has had less to do with the fact that travel is growing, and more because the luxury the market has become more confusing and high-end
travelers want more. Chad Clark of Chad Clark Travel has made a name for himself – like some of the
most successful agents – or advisors – it is a second career. He is part of the
Virtuoso network, a select group of travel advisors who focus on luxury. He personally visits most of the place he sells, so he knows first hand which
suites are really good and which ones just look nice in the pictures, but have
flaws – noise from a nearby restaurant, views to the parking lot, etc. In this
edition, Chad reports from his most recent trip to Los Cabos on the best of the
Pacific beach resort.
PS — We keep all past issues on an easy to access website DG Amazing Experiences where you can find both newsletters and special reports.
I hope all your trips are amazing experiences!

Best Suites and Hotel Villas of Los Cabos
by Chad Clark
1. One &
Only Palmilla
The largest and
most luxurious suite at One&Only Palmilla is Villa Cortez (pictured above).
Villa Cortez –
with a total surface of 10,500 square feet is located on its own private beach
on the resort's idyllic southern shore and is designed in the authentic style
of a traditional Mexican hacienda, yet fashioned with every conceivable
modern-day amenity. The four bedroom villa is designed for those seeking
intense privacy and exquisite luxury. The villa counts with two master
king-size bedrooms and two double queen-size bedrooms, all of them with private
terraces and patios. A large terrace with day beds, loungers, an outdoor palapa
shading a round table with a lazy Suzanne in the middle that seats up to 12
guests, a fireplace, an infinity edge pool and Jacuzzi with uninterrupted views
of the Sea of Cortez.
Among the services
and amenities offered at Villa Cortez are:
·
Daily breakfast
·
Private villa cellar with selected wines and spirits
·
Pre-dinner cocktails and daily snack selection
·
24-hour Butler service with a dedicated culinary and household staff
·
Dedicated fitness trainer
·
Linen, pillow, robes and aromatherapy menus
As One&Only Palmilla has a high level of
repeat guests, some of their requests can be very specific; guests may have
preferences for specific room type, a higher floor, the proximity to the family
pool or being located on the southern side of the property. They strive to do
their best to accommodate their guests’ requests whenever possible. Their
repeat guests, staying in one of our top five suites or the villas, tend to
request for the same dedicated butler.
Personal Favorites
One&Only Palmilla offers 15 different room categories; every one of them different and unique, but all with spectacular ocean views. Nevertheless, my favorite room category is the Ocean Front One-Bedroom Pool Casita Suite (pictured above); there are only two rooms of this kind in their inventory. They are located in Casa Playa and Casa Sirena, two buildings right above Turtle Beach offering unobstructed views of the Sea of Cortez. These two suites offer a separate bedroom and living room, an expansive marble bathroom and – my personal favorite – a large terrace with a private infinity-edge pool and Jacuzzi. The room numbers of these suites are 2214 and 2315.
2. Resort at Pedregal
The largest suite is the Presidential Suite #1 at 4,100 square feet. As mentioned below, it includes an infinity pool, private garden, direct beach access and stunning ocean views. It also includes personal butler service, a private cabana for beach dining, an outdoor fire pit, private hammock and VIP access to many of the resort’s amenities including the spa and Kids Club. In addition, guests staying in the Presidential Suite receive private beach waiter service throughout the day with a terrace and beach chaise lounge setup, towels, suntan lotion and refreshing amenities. Other beachfront suites services that are available include a fully stocked bar, bonfire with Mexican s’mores, a private chef service at your dining cabana, and a full a la carte menu and beverages at your cabana, with customized menus available on request.
Personal Favorites
Estrella Suite 141
(above) is 1,600 square feet - This happens to be my favorite. It’s located on
the resort’s top floors and features one covered terrace and one uncovered
terrace with sky views and an adjacent fire pit and a balcony for breathtaking panoramic
views of the Pacific Ocean and Pedregal Mountain.
The One-Bedroom Beachfront Suite (above) is 1,389 square feet and the Presidential Three-Bedroom Beachfront Suite 1 at 4,100 square feet are big, very spacious and luxe. There is an infinity pool, private garden, direct beach access and stunning ocean views.
3. Chileno Bay
This brand new arrival to Cabo has 32 two-, three-, and four-bedroom villas that are light and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow a seamless flow from each space, framing the panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez. Expansive floor plans with a natural color palette are the backdrop for handcrafted contemporary furniture in linen, cotton and leather, comfortable for lounging, with pops of bright colors that add vibrancy and flair. Villas are equipped with the comforts of home, including gourmet kitchens and living spaces that span indoor-outdoor, terraces with plunge pools and hot tubs and breathtaking ocean views. Signature in-room amenities include a welcome cocktail freshly prepared in-room upon arrival, artisanal bath products, complimentary refreshments and WiFi.
Personal Favorite
The best suite at Chileno Bay is Brisa Del Mar (above), a six bedroom ocean front villa with private pool, outdoor fire terrace, double master suites overlooking the Sea of Cortez and its own dedicated private butler. It is furnished in a beautiful and relaxed style and has a nice degree of privacy.
4. Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort
Each stylish
guestroom offers up to 885 square feet of indoor/outdoor living space. Inspired
by the setting, the contemporary architecture emphasizes indigenous materials
and a natural color palette. To maximize views, guestrooms have
floor-to-ceiling windows and open floor plans with private terraces featuring
ocean, beach, pool or garden views. Spacious bathrooms offer a soaking tub and
private outdoor shower.
Villas
Expansive villas
in two-, three-, four-, and six- bedroom layouts offer anywhere from 3,300 to 11,000 square feet of flexible indoor/outdoor living space and kitchens with
floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious terraces that bring the outside in.
Stunning ocean views can be enjoyed while sitting in a private pool or Jacuzzi.
Villas are equipped with gourmet kitchens featuring Wolf and Subzero appliances
for entertaining. Bold natural materials, distinct artisanal Mexican accents
and stylish fixtures complement large, open floor plans.
Two three-bedroom
Sky Villas feature large private rooftop terraces with private pool, extended
living area and bar.
Las Ventanas’ most
luxurious accommodation is the extraordinary 28,000 square foot Ty Warner
Mansion (above and below). Warner, the owner, has dedicated the last five years of his life working with
Robert Couturier to create this new masterpiece, which sells at $35,000 per night. The striking villa offers a private
328-foot beachfront infinity pool, swim up bar, palapa-covered dining patio and
personal spa, and features an exquisitely curated collection of locally sourced
artwork. Throughout, a personal staff of seven – including a private chef,
on-call driver, Ty Warner Mansion Manager, and several Las Ventanas Villa Hosts
– ensure guests need not lift a finger.
Personal Favorites
The Beachfront
Signature Villa (above) is particularly stunning. With the Sea of Cortez at guests’
footsteps, this elegant two-bedroom beachfront villa echoes the luxury, privacy
and personalized service that Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort, is
renowned for. Guests can enjoy ceviche and tequila while watching
the sunset from the outdoor Jacuzzi or stargaze by the light of the adobe fire
pit. This luxurious villa features 5,700 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor living
space, personal butler service, and
includes one master bedroom, a second guest room, and an extensive
terrace.
I also highly recommend the Oceanfront Rooftop Terrace Junior Suite (above). Ensuring captivating ocean views, these luxurious suites are situated beside the white sands of Las Ventanas. Each luxurious suite presents 1,400 sq. ft. of living space, a king bed, a well-appointed bathroom and a rooftop terrace. On the ground level at the Oceanfront buildings, guests can enjoy two infinity pools or relax in hammocks under the shade of a palapa.
5. Esperanza
The Oceanfront Penthouse Suite (above) is Esperanza’s most luxurious suite with 2,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor living space. The suite is very private and located on the top floor with high vaulted palapa ceilings, a separate living room area, private hot tub, expansive terraces, and 180 degree panoramic views.
An elevated king
bed is surrounded by soft draped netting and ensconced in hand-crafted glass
and leather accents handcrafted by Mexican artisans. The separate living room
features a plush oversized sofa, artisanal furniture and a guest bathroom. The
master bath features direct access to a hot tub, a full size bathtub, and double
shower-heads, as well as an adjoining walk-in closet. Two private terraces at
our luxury hotel in Mexico, afford stunning ocean views; one with a daybed for
relaxing and the other with an outdoor infinity edge hot tub. Access the ocean
view penthouse suite via a private elevator and take advantage of the suite’s 24
hour butler service.
Personal Favorites
My personal favorites are the Luxury Villas ( the six three bedroom units pictured above) which are all located right on the edge of the ocean and have the best views of all. Especially nice is watching sunrise and sunset from the balconies while listening to the waves crash over the rocks creating an amazing song to accompany the view. During whale season, it is simply a privilege to look out at the sea and watch the whales breaching right in front of the villas.
