Datum was delighted to have continued their successful relationship with Luxottica brands David Clulow and Sunglass Hut. One of the recent projects was to manufacture and install a new sunglasses concession on the lower ground floor at Harrods.

Working closely with Luxottica’s interior designers, London-based Innovare, Datum delivered another high quality installation. The concession was constructed using powder-coated metalwork, with glass shelving that incorporates led light panels that produce exceptional light quality that accurately reproduces the exact colours and tints of the lenses.

Since completing the concession at Harrods, we have also recently completed two new stores in Oxford — David Clulow Opticians and Sunglass Hut which opened recently and will be featured in the next issue of Data.

Commenting on the concession in Harrods, Luxottica’s store development manager, Paul Bate, said: “We are once again delighted with Datum for delivering another stunning installation. Their attention to detail and ability to create everything as envisaged by the designers is to be applauded and I look forward to working with them again."

Working with closely with main contractor, Chas Smith, Datum was appointed to design and manufacture the new check-in desks for Bond Offshore Helicopters for their flight centre at Norwich Airport.

The new facilities, which will be used by around  25,000 passengers a year, include new baggage search desks and three check-in desks with integral plinths incorporating weighing scales.

The new check-in facilities were manufactured using a combination of Ash and Formica laminate, with frosted glass panels incorporating the ‘Bond’ logo.

Following on from prototyping and installing a new customer service counter for Intu at their Uxbridge shopping centre, the design has been refined and developed further for the latest two counters, which have been installed at Intu Eldon Square.

Corian® was used to form the curved and shaped ‘ribbons’ that flow from a central island desk and incorporate various AV screens, leaflet inserts, seats and interactive features, including Galaxy tablets for children’s entertainment and information, concealed in low level cupboards behind doors that say ‘Push me’. 

Orange LED lighting in Intu’s corporate colour highlights the ribbon shapes, which flow in a series of curves along the mall, creating the illusion that they disappear into the floor and then re-emerge. 

Datum worked closely with Intu’s retail operations and IT departments to ensure the two new counters meet their requirements and expectations by providing customers with an enhanced shopping experience.
